Dancing our Dreams:  Authentic Movement & Expressive Art Dream Group

Spring 2010

Your images are a picture of your spiritual condition...Once you dance for a year, it's part of your day. I mean, it's prayer. Dance your dreams each morning, Let your images move in your body....  --  Marion Woodman

This group will provide space and support for individuals to explore the veiled yet important life of their dream figures, stories, and images through movement, sound, and expressive arts. The group will meet twice each month for three hours, from March through June 2010. Participants are expected to bring personal dream material to work with each time and to keep a dream journal throughout the series. Experience with Authentic Movement and ongoing regular personal therapy or inquiry are prerequisites for participation, together with interview and permission of the instructor. The series is intended as personal education, exploration, and deepening, and is not intended as group psychotherapy.

Cost: $600 - $720, sliding scale, for the series ($60 - $75 per session fee, plus a one-time space rental and materials fee of $120). Participants are responsible for paying the entire amount, even if they must miss a session. Payment is due at the first session. Alternatively, a payment plan can be arranged by submitting post dated checks for each of the session dates; these are also due at the first session.

Introduction to the Practice of Authentic Movement

Summer 2010

It is important to be impeccable in the beginning.  -- Janet Adler

Bringing consciousness and the body together in a friendly way is a developmental journey, one that richly rewards those who travel this path. Here we focus on Beginnings: the origins, the ground form, and some applications of Authentic Movement. There will be journaling and readings to supplement the experiential work of the group. Eight sessions, meeting twice per month.

The Spiral In: Ongoing Authentic Movement Practice

Ongoing throughout the year.

First we must work in our individual body, without seeking any escape, since this body is the very place where consciousness connects with Matter. -- the Mother, as quoted by Satprem in Sri Aurobindo or the Adventures of Consciousness

For those with a solid grasp of the ground form of Authentic Movement, a number of groups are available for continued deepening and unfolding through this practice. Groups form organically, based on needs, interests, and rhythms of participants. Please email for details or to express an interest.

Sacred Body Practice

Offered at various times throughout the year. Email for dates.

This series allows for the inspired interweaving of form with formlessness and personal with transpersonal, in an embodied approach to the sacred. Each time we will begin with a breath or walking practice, followed by a Dance of Universal Peace, a short period of inner-directed movement, silent meditation, and spoken word. This is an Open Series, meeting for five weekly sessions, so come once or come every time!
